i had some major computer issues and well my laptop is dead and my other computer is dying, so i had to buy a new computer. its taking time to load programs and photos and such. so photo packets and sneak peaks are just a smidge behind. But dont worry I didnt lose any photos, so all your photos are safe and backed up.

I hope to get caught up in a few days and well with a nice new faster computer hopefully i will get caught up quicker :)

ok these are totally not the best photos since I took them in his room, but they are photos a mommy loves and i am a mommy.

Brett's room is pirate themed so I wanted to get some decor for his room using his photo, so i took a few photos of him as a pirate. Still might try again with another outfit I have that is more captain pirate like too and see if i get one that i love for his wall :)

My New Photo Prop!

As most of you know it was 103 degrees yesterday here in Seattle so i just couldnt stay in teh house any longer so at 8pm I went shopping...to of course Target my favorite store. and I am sooo glad i did!! They were having mega sales in their toy department and

I found this.....its a DOLL high chair! and it was only $5 on clearance!!!

It will have to be used on the 0-3 month crowd and will most likely work best for 6-9week olds that are not big, so they can sit up like this. Its kind of a fun prop!

Just something new to add to my prop collection :)

Blast from the Past

I want to keep this blog more updated so in between showing sneek peaks and photos of my kids I plan to start a new weekly column called "Blast from the Past" where I will include some of my favorite photos that I have taken over the years. I figure i have so many new readers i could share some older images inbetween the new ones :) Each week I will post a topic/theme/family, etc some sort of grouping and share various images.

Just sharing a few photos that i took of alex two weeks ago. Thought I should share something here since its been awhile. Have no fear though I am back from maternity leave starting this weekend and have sessions booked all summer long so I will finally have some subjects to post that aren't just my two kids ;)

Since I was pregnant this year and did all my own maternity photos, i fell in LOVE with Maternity shots and really want to have some more practice especially on someone other then myself.

I havent had many maternity clients in the last two years and would really like to update my portfolio with some of my newer ideas and backgrounds. Thus, I need a few models to make my portfolio complete. I am looking for pregnant women who are interested in having photos done around 30-38weeks (preferably 32-36 weeks and you don't have to be due right now, you can book under this offer any time in 2009) and that are not afraid to show a little skin (bare belly...dont worry about stretch marks LOL!) and dont worry, no nudes necessary (unless you want them or dont mind to try a few of those too).

Another month has gone by!

here is my favorite photo from May, this is my sweet Alex at 2 weeks old in a hat i made him.

So now that it is June i am officially back from Maternity leave THUS...

I will be posting more here again with sneak peaks, photos and specials so stay tuned.

I want to spend some of 2009 updating my portfolio so there are going to be some areas in which I am going to offer a discount for a particular area of photography, so stay tuned for that....i know the first one is maternity, (just a heads up). I will be posting those details later this week....

other then that, things are going great with Alex and I am looking forward to having a few sessions again and getting back into the swing of things ;)

Our Saturday plans are to go to an Easter Egg Hunt in our neighborhood, then we will go see the Easter Bunny then to another hunt later in the day.

Sunday so far no plans. we are kinda hoping Alex would make his appearance this weekend, which means he wont! LOL

I am due on Monday so we are trying to have some fun and really enjoy Brett right now because any day now he will no longer be an only child :)

About 10 days ago I got to photograph one of my first clients again.

This cute guy was only 2 months old when I took photos of him and now he is a 2 year old! Time goes by fast!

I am officially on Maternity leave now. I should be ready for shoots come mid.end of May.

HOWEVER if you are a previous client or are having a special circumstance especially like a maternity session and/or don't mind a newborn being there earlier then when I am back officially. feel free to shoot me an email and I can see how I feel after the baby is born and can see if I can work it out :)

So here it is....my favorite photo from january, its of my son Brett. I took him to a train museum (so no worries about the tracks!) to take photos for his 2nd birthday party and I got this gem :)

Evacuation

So last night we had to evacuate our house due to possible flooding. Our house isnt right on the river and if we got any damage, then we were all in trouble because we are about a mile back and not in an immediate flood zone (except of course if Mr. Rainier blows! but then we are ALL in trouble!) but we left as asked to because the first flood models said it was going to be BAD, possible worst in recorded history (it ended up being 6th worst). And i will always rather be safe then sorry especially with a little one and me being pregnant. I just dont want to be one of the people that has to be airlifted out when we have 5 different possible family homes we could go to just 10 minutes away. The only thing it cost us was $12 to buy Subways for dinner instead of making something at home, but hey its not like that was a real inconvenience! LOL!

So we packed the Durango of everything we would need.

One of the things that could have happened was that the roads would flood even if the houses didnt, as well as the power could have been shut off to our area and also a possible water contamination, so just in case we couldnt get back to our house for whatever reason we wanted to make sure we had clothes and things for the three of us. Plus we packed a few things that are important, like my camera, external hard drives, and my beloved trip journals [which chronicle (and i mean all the details) ALL my vacations from 1996 to present (almost 30 or so vacations)]. My 4 trip journals would be the first thing i would grab in a fire after I would grab Brett, even though i knew they were safe in my house especially upstairs, they came with.

So with the car packed, we left.

And sat in traffic. It actually wasnt horrible, it went a lot faster then i would have thought, thanks to the police department for doing a great job of traffic management! Although what was funny was that our roads were ok but the main road i had to take was flooded by a foot and someone almost swerved into me.

So after making it to dryer land, we stayed at my mother in laws house and ate our Subways (big thank you for letting us invade!!!), not as easy going to bed though as we all three were in the same room and at home we would be in three separate rooms at night during the evening hours. I just cannot go to sleep at 9pm when Chris has to, so i am usually in the computer room while my two boys sleep in their rooms. So all being in the same room was like being on vacation, except in the morning Chris had to go to work and I had to go home to unpack! LOL then of course Brett was wound up so he wouldnt go to bed at first, but finally both my boys went to sleep and i was able to sit quietly and play on my computer and read up on projected flood totals.

Although waking up at 1:30am to a scraming terrifed baby wasnt fun, poor thing. he does that sometimes when he wakes up in a strange place and doesnt know where he is. Man it took some time to calm him down, and since he is getting heavier lately and my belly is getting bigger, that isnt as easy anymore ;) But i did finally get him to go back to bed. But then Chris had to get up with him once more. poor kid!

So in the morning we got up, got the ok to go home and yup i had to unpack everything. but it was good. because of it i ended up cleaning out the spare closet that needed to be cleaned for the baby and i also cleaned a side of the garage that needed to be cleaned (Chris had taken his Chevelle out of the garage today, so it left room to work with).

But man was I tired and my back hurt but of course Brett wouldnt take a nap, why would a tired kid do that?!!?

But then once Chris got home, we settled in, ordered pizza and watched football. our favorite kind of night!

So that was my evucation story and thanks to everyone who was thinking of us!

Today I took photos of Brett and his favorite dog, Spencer. Spencer is my parents dog that is 10 years old (thus he was my dog too for his first 3 years of life).

And Brett just adores Spencer so we love trying to get good photos of these two together.

And today I succeded!

I took photos for my parents Christmas Card :)

They are so cute together!

And then my favorite outtake of the day :) Spencer went to kiss brett and brett was NOT having that! Its too bad bcause it would have been really sweet had Brett thought it was :)

Another Charlie Chaplin photo

Back in March I took this photo of Brett

it even won 3rd place at the fair. Its one of my favorites.

I pulled the clothes back out just a few weeks ago because they are part of Brett's Christmas outfit. At that time I was thinking how much I would love to do another Charlie Chaplin photo but didnt think there was another way to do it.

THEN

while at LAX I saw hanging on the wall a photo of Charlie Chaplin and a dog and I just KNEW I had to recreate it.

I had the idea that I had wished I had a few weeks earlier.

So I just had to wait for the weather to be nice, Brett in a good mood and for there to be nothing else planned that day and hope to get a keeper.

Its not easy trying to get a 20 month old and a dog to cooperate but I kept trying and it paid off.

I got a shot I love.
(I mean I NEVER get both of them looking at me...EVER!)

Extra and Photo info: Used my Canon 40D, Canon 50mm 1.4 lens, 1/200, f2.8, ISO 400 (since I knew i was going for an old time look i upped my ISO as noise wouldnt be a bad thing). A funny behind the scenes note is that Brett is almost too tall for these pants and so they are actually pulled down, he is sitting on his diaper on the ground :) Also the shoes fit him actually are almost too small. Amazing how the top photo everything was soooo large and now 7 months later everything is on the verge of being too small.

Brett's Blog Book

I am sooo freakin excited!!! Brett's blog book came Monday!!!!!!
I have been working on this for what seems like forever. I made it from blurb.com and its ALL the posts (pictures and journaling) from his blog from February 20, 2007 - February 20, 2008 :) His entire first year in a 436 page book!!!
It has everything in here. Its every single day. The photos, the words i wrote, what we did, the boring days, the fun days. Its all in here.
I cried when it arrived. Ok so I am pregnant, but it seriously brought a tear to my eye to have it all in one spot, his entire first year, every single day in a big book!
I am already working on his next book which will be year 1-2. But this time I am doing it as I do this blog so it will be done about a week after his 2nd birthday. Then I plan to do the books for New Baby too.

I am getting pretty booked up but do have some November days available......

I am completely open the weekend of November 8 & 9. Then I am free on Veterans day the 11th for anyone who has that off work. Then of course I am free most weekdays. I can do one of the days of November 29th OR 30th.

But you need to book a November date if you want the photos for Christmas Cards and you need to book by December 7th to get the photos before Christmas :)

I will not be taking many sessions at the end of December due to the holiday and I usually only do one over the Christmas Break so if that is the only time you have family in town, book asap.

Prices are going to go up starting January 1st :)

I had my 10 year reunion last night! WOW cant believe its been 10 years already!!!

Am I really that old that I had a reunion already?!?!?

One nice thing is that since Chris and I graduated together neither of us had to be the "spouse" at the reunion.

Only bummed I dont have a photo of me in my full dress. I loved my dress. Maybe someone else will have a photo to send to me :)

there was actually a great turnout which was nice to see.

And I got to see some really dear friends!

And I got see Cheri again. I havent seen her in YEARS! We had lost contact over the years and I wasnt sure if she would come to the reunion and I am soooo happy she did, we are totally going to reconnect!

It was a fun night and it was soooo great seeing all my past friends again and catching up!

OK i really wish i had photos to go along with this story because i doubt you guys will believe me without photos! And the funny part is that at every part of this story i had my camera around my neck so photos were totally possible. I was just sooooo caught up in what was happening, there was no way i was stopping to take photos :) So instead I made pictures so you can have a fun visual :)

So it all starts with me wanting to take photos of Brett while it was still cloudy but the rain hadnt started yet. It was 10am and we rushed out of the house to make this happen. As soon as I opened the door i heard a cat meowing. i knew a cat was around somewhere but didnt see it. I put Brett in the car and all my stuff and then thought i better look under the car to make sure the cat wasnt there. Sure enough the cat was under the car. So i grab a few crackers and try to lure the cat from under the car. that didnt work. so i talk all sweet and finally the cat comes out. i try to make a break for the car, BUT the cat was faster and he jumped INTO my car! I then quickly take Brett out of the car so at this point we are both NOT in the car and the cat IS!

So i finally go into the backyard and teh cat follows. YAY! so i quickly close the gate (and yes i know cats can jump, but this cat was HUGE and FAT that i was hoping he wouldnt jump right away). so i got brett into the car, got the car started and then went and opened the gate and jumped back into my car and started to pull out of the driveway and then of course i see...

the poor kitty all sad to see us go, like he just wanted us to pay attention to him. poor thing. but he had no tags on and me being pregnant and of course brett a toddler we couldnt take any chances.

So then we drive to the park. Its a very small park and there is only one other person there, a maintance person. We start to go down the path but its blocked by 3 swans. no big deal i figure i wont bother them, they wont bother me. so we continue slowly and are trying to stay to one side so we dont disturb the swans. WELL we didnt even get that close to them, they all three stood up and started to run after us honking. they were not happy we were trying to pass. and they were not stoping, they kept coming.

I had to grab Brett, all my props and my camera and run across a wooded swamp area to get away from them to get to the other path.

So we are safe from the swans and i start to look for an area to take Bretts photos. I find a great spot just a little down teh path when I start to hear quacking. I turn around and a swarm of ducks are following us and are coming on shore after us. I quickly grab all my stuff and start to walk down teh path, well they followed us!

And more are coming from across the pond, they are everywhere at this point and we cannot take any photos. So we start to run down the path away from the ducks.

At this point I have a few quick minutes to take Brett's photo (which I do) but now the ducks have found us and are quacking and coming up on the shore again.

So we just deciede to leave, but the ducks are not going to let us so we have to run through the woods off the path just so we can cut through back to the car to get away from the ducks and swans.

It seriously made me feel like i was part of some weird Hitchcock movie!

But it was worth it. i did get a GREAT photo and the kind of photo i was wanting. brett in his Halloween costume :)

I got to shoot a scrapbooking friend's son. I met Mimi more then 6 years ago at a scrapbook crop and feel so honored she asked me to shoot her son's senior photos.

we met at a great park south of me. I had never been there before but was not disapointed.

the trees gave a great canapy from the rain and were great background.

it also gave for some wonderful backdrops of color.

i just love this time of year.

and her son was a great model!

Another past client. We went to the Seattle Arborteum which is so beautiful.

We started out having them running. you can get some fun shots and plus it gets a lot of the energy out :) I just love this shot. I think it conveys the fun we had :)

And a smile is always good, but a natural laugh even better!

And I love siblings, there is always something so fun about siblings.

This is the start of my busy season so I will be able to share more photos in the next few weeks!

First off is a family that was one of my very first clients almost a 1.5 years ago and we went to my favorite park! And it was a beautiful day!

They have the cutest 2 year old. one of the things I love about repeat clients is seeing the kids grow up!

Hi everyone. sorry long time no post. i was on vacation and have been swamped thsi week preparing for my upcoming sessions. which btw i will have LOTS of sneak peaks in the coming weeks! and will try to post a few of my favorite vacation photos as well.

A few business notes:
As far as availability I am fully booked thru October and have only a few sessions available for Nov/Dec. I will have new prices started January 1st so if you want the current prices or current previously client specials book before the end of the year. If you are a previous client either this year or last year contact me for the special price.

I will be taking April AND May 2009 off for maternity leave. Just want to mention it again for those that like Spring photos, they will need to be done either March or June :)

I have been running a 2008 referral contest and have kept track of everyone who has been referred and book a session and so if you want a chance to win one of my prizes which will be good in 2009 either book a session or refer someone who books a session :)

As much as I do enjoy watching hurricane coverage, this one looks nasty. my prayers and thoughts are with those on the Texas coast and i hope everyone stays safe!

i think what surprises me is that so many dont evacuate....man i would have been out of there no later then wednesday! money is no object for safety! and i can say that considering i live in a flood zone that is beneath a VOLCANO :) so one day it could be our area that has the disaster and as soon as our mountain makes any rumble... yup i am outta here! so i guess i dont get why people would want to stay in an area that is going to flood, why risk it?

and dont even get me started on the people that go down to the beach for the fun of it to see the storm come in! argggg and this is coming from a photographer who "gets" wanting to see the action and recording it! but not worth the risk!

i am sure this is my pregnancy hormones, but i have spent all morning watching all the news networks and i cry everytime i think of someone not leaving and getting to safety.....

again i hope everyone is safe and/or that it isnt as bad as they are saying it could/will be!

I went to the fair today and am excited!

So I got third place in the Humor Category for photography

I got an honorable mention in the children's category

and my highlight my scrapbook layout got GRAND CHAMPION!!!!!

i am thrilled!!! I got a 1st place in Decorative elements and then chose it for the grand champion!

I also got a 1st place in the journaling category

2nd place in digital scrapbooking

and an honorable mention in photography

when we redo our house for the new baby i will have my own area for my desk, photo displays, etc and i plan to hang winning layouts and photos with my awards. Last year I got the Reserve Grand Champion so getting the Grand Champion this year I am beyong excited!

My Brett as Charlie Chaplin photo got 3rd place in the Humor division at the Puyallup fair!!!! It will be on display the entire time!

I am so excited, its my all time favorite photo and i am so glad it got a placing! If you are going to the fair, check it out, it will be in the pavillion (by the front gate) upstairs. If you get a chance, vote it for Peoples choice :)

I also had another photo get a prize too. Brett at the pumpkin patch got an Honorable mention!! And it will be displayed for the first half of the fair.

I am so excited, cant wait until Friday when I get to go see them!

Ok I am behind on posting some of my favorites from some of my recent sessions :)
I just loved photographing this little girl!! first a GIRL i rarely photograph girls it seems :)
this photo just spoke to me. i thought it was so sweet! i know her back is turned but there is some sort of innocence in it.

She was sooo cute and full of great spunk. She would run all over (but in a good way - not in a run away way). It was sooo much fun!

another one i thought was cute.

All the flowers were in bloom and gave me some great backdrops.

and then my Abbey road series. so cute as she was running across the crosswalk :)

Ok to be honest, I posted my photos of the animals a few weeks ago, and i LOVE them, but the real story is that I am not all that keen on being in a free area with animals!

ok and this one, what is funny about this one is that I honestly thought i was standing RIGHT NEXT to the reindeer! LOL! it wasnt until I saw the photo that i realized i was 3 feet away! too funny!

I actually did ok, WAY better then when I went swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman 4 years ago :)

Every Monday I figure I will post something about me. Well I had this concept 2 weeks ago, but got busy and never got around to posting. WELL now I actually have something to post!

I AM PREGNANT!

A total surpise! But we are happy! Its just a little sooner then we wanted, but we are excited to have a brother or sister for brett.

And this is relevant to my business as I will need to take April and some of May off next year to be with the baby. When I get a real due date I will know for sure and will post more about my time off later this year.

One fun thing will be maternity and newborn photos! I have some great ideas and cant wait to try them out over the next year!

Alaska

Sorry I havent posted in awhile.
I went to Anchorage, Alaska last friday for the day. Yes you heard that right for the day :)

I went for about 17 hours with my friend Erin.

She works for Alaska airlines and can fly free so we went there for the day and had a wonderful time! Then I had some sessions so I have been busy proofing photos. I am even behind on Brett's blog. But stay tuned I promise I will have more frequent updates from now on!

It is so beautiful. It was my third trip to Alaska, and makes that my 5th Alaskan City as well.

Here you can see me in Alaska with my camera :)

We went to a conservation center that has lots of animals on tons of acres and there were some great photo opportunities!

then we went to a park that was by the airport where you cuold see anchorage

and here you can see a pick of me taking the above shot!

We also went to tehbeach that was down below the park still by the airport and it also overlooked the city. That was a lot of fun as we took some great graffiti photos (which i hope to post later)

and the airplanes flew RIGHT OVER us!
Then for the highlight of the trip.

We went to a Reindeer farm in Palmer. it was so cool. you got to go into the wide open areas with about 30 or so reindeer. something so much more then a petting zoo.

We got to pet not only the reindeer but a moose too!

But the highlight of the trip was the baby moose. The people at the farm were sooooo nice and let us into the baby moose pen!

I got to pet and photograph a baby moose!

And I got my favorite photo from the trip! I love how it looks like he is smiling at me!

Baseball game

On Sunday we went to a Tacoma Rainiers baseball game which was lots of fun and also since we had awesome seats and it gave me some time to take some fun sports shots. Something I dont usually do. (we love to eat little casears pizza and the mascot was at the game! heheh)

Book special

I want to try a new company for photobooks that I might want to use to sell to clients.

BUT i need some guinepigs out there :) FIVE to be exact. So once I get 5 books ordered, this special will be done. So email me ASAP if you are interested. angelamarvelphotography@gmail.com

The books would be 8x8 hardbound memory books, with 30 pages. I plan to custom make you a cover and backcover and use up to 30-40 of your images from your session.

I plan to charge $60 PLUS TAX for this special. I am offering them at this price so I can have some examples for my website and check out the quality and user interface. Plus play around with some of my ideas for photobooks. If it pans out and I like them I will be charging over $100 starting in 2009.

So you would like to be a guinepig and help me out. Email me for all the details.

Some extra info.....
To take part of this special, you need to have already had a session with me or book one with me that takes place no later then August 16th. All images in the book need to be images that I have taken but do not have to be all from one session if you would like me to use images from last year as well.

Price Changes

If you look over my website I had to change all the prices because of a new tax law that took effect on July 1st. This changed the way I do business as I now have to charge tax based on where you live and not where I live, so it will be different for each session. So to help with this, I took all the taxes out of my prices and sales tax will now be applied in ADDITION to the prices on my website. On all products. Although not all products are fully updated, email me for the latest prices on anything as I am slowly updating the site and rather then have my website down for a few days I am just uploading page by page :)

Since I had to change my prices for this tax, I ended up changing a few prices as well. However most you will be paying the same as you would have back in June. I only raised prices on a few smaller session rates and my cards or just changed things to a round number. If you are already booked don’t worry, the prices you were quoted are still effective and taxes are already figured in. So no worries!

But I am going to take this time to let you know that starting January 1, 2009 I will be raising my prices pretty significantly and changing my packages. So if you are wanting to book a session at my current prices you will need to book a 2008 session.

I will also be posting in the next few weeks some Christmas specials I will be running in the month of October. I plan to run a few different ones so stayed tuned for details. I am working the final details out right now :)

Today is a post about me, not my business :)

Took some photos of Brett last week on our bed. I think its kinda interesting and thought it would be a fun blog topic to go over some of the things you see in the photo :)

First off the quilt behind the bed was given to us from my maid of honor for a wedding gift. She had a friend of hers make it. Its beautiful and we love it! thus it is displayed on the wall.

2) The afghan at the foot of the bed was made for our wedding by my cousins' grandmother who has passed away since then. We love it and is such a cherished item now.

3) The very back pillows have pillow cases I made just for decoration to match this ensemble.

4) very top right corner is a page I was published in a magazine, we have a turtle so i choose that particular one to display. You can see the entire shelf of magazines, two shelves from teh top that has all the magazines I have been published in.

5) Below that shelf is framed photos of both Chris and I from when we were toddlers.

6) very top of the bookcase by the published magazine is where we keep our cherished childhood bears. in this picture you can see my bear gigi that i have had since I was born. you can also see the cabbage patch doll that Chris bought me for our 5 year dating anniversary. I had never gotten one as a child and so Chris bought me one :) Chris has a few things up there too, they are just cut off by the photo edge.

7) Right next to that is a TINY purple turtle, you can barely see it, but its an inside joke between three friends of mine from high school. I wont go into the joke, but I still have mine and its put up there :)

8) Top shelf is where we keep all our religious materials, bibles, biblical books, study guides, etc

9) On that same shelf are pooh letter figurines that are "A" and "J", that is my nickname that my dad calls me. In fact if he calls me Angela is WAY too weird!

10) bottom two shelves are just random books that are not arranged nicely! LOL!

11) on the other side of the room you can see the bed brett slept in for the first 5 months that was purchase by above mentioned maid of honor :) seriously was a life saver, he LOVED that thing!

12) On the right side of the bed is Chris' nightstand. You can see a tiny little carmax jar. yup he cant go to bed without putting it on his lips! he also has a glass of water every night before bed, thus the big cup. and then his alarm clock cell phone and change are also there.

13) My night stand on the other side, has the lamp that use to be in our living room at our old place and the phone that i just love and then one of those giant remotes. I bought it for chris for christmas because i got tired of him always saying he cant find the remote. well the darn thing wont work with our tv, it will turn it on and off and change the volume, but only half the numbers work and the channel up and down doesnt so it just sits there :)

and Last: Our bed, we bought it October 2001, about 3 months after getting married on one of those 15 months no interest deals :)

So what can you not see in the photo?

*On the right side is where our pet turtle tommy is, the only funny story there is that Chris broke his tank when we moved into this house so its a nice new tank

*On the left side is where the rocking chair my mom used with me and gave me when brett was born

*also on teh left side is a wooden box that chris made me in 9th grade wood shop and gave to me for our first valentines day back in 1995 :)

*behind the camera is where our dresser with TV is. no story there :)

I got a 40D!!!

I GOT A 40D last week!!! Yippea! i have been wanting this camera since Christmas and finally saved enough money for it. Cant wait to learn and use it.

So I thought I would write about all my cameras....

Here they all are [well actually there are still some missing - I have another minolta, another APS and a resusable underwater camera that I forgot to add this this picture, and then of course my moms digital that I use for all the videos you see on Brett's blog, but that is what I am using to take this photo :)].

Starting from the right you have my first "expensive" camera. Its an APS camera that I got from my parents for Christmas 1997. I dropped it and it broke. So I replaced it with a black APS camera which I no longer have, but used from September 1998 - November 2004.

The old minolta - we actually have two of these. The first one is my husband's fathers that hubby took wtih him when we got married in July 2001 and then in the Fall of 2002 I bought one off ebay, so for important photos I used this camera from July 2001-November 2004. Its fully manual, no auto setting of any kind and is how i learned about photography.

In November 2003 I bought that Vivatar digital camera. its a crappy digital, but my first digital camera. It can take some decent images actually but only outside in good light.

November 2004 is important because that is when I bought my first automatically SLR camera. The Canon Eos G2. I stopped using all other cameras at this point.

And my photography improved greatly. BUT then in August 2005 I got my Digital Rebel XT and that is what I have been using ever since, well ever since TODAY (I didnt use the camera over the 4th weekend)! And my photography took off once I had a Digital SLR camera. and now that I have a this even better prolike digital SLR rather then the amateur one, I cant wait to see where I will go from here.

so to get back into the swing of blog life, I thought I would go thru my archives and play :)

I took this photo of my hubby and me back in December (via tripod and remote), but i didnt quite like it and never really got another one taken. Well i pulled it out and played with it again....

now i love it!

Maybe I justed need time away from it to appreciate it more. so today i pulled it back out and played. I think I will get it printed 12x18 and hang it in our bedroom. We never have good pictures of us!

Family Session

I had a great shoot yesterday with another family that I shot for the third time :)

I just love these photos. I came home and actually was excited about soooo many of their images, love that feeling. After having the two weddings, it was nice to have a family session again.

I just love families.

2nd wedding

So I shot yet another wedding. but this time it was for a close friend. [and just for the record. NO i DO NOT do weddings :)] Just really isnt my thing, way too stressful and way tooo much pressure. I like to be relaxed at my photo sessions :)

They got married at the courthouse. Actually the courthouse that was right in the same block as where I use to work before being a stay at home mommy :)
The ceremony was beautiful.

then afterward we took photos in the foyer because there was beautiful glass windows and wonderful lighting.

My cousin Jaycob graduated high school today. He is the last of our generation. We wont have another graduate for 15 years! And the first of our generaion was 13 years ago.

So i of course attended his graduation ceremony today.

Was a nice ceremony, no key note speaker makes for a nice short commencement :)
They got right to teh point handing out the diplomas.

So we didnt have to wait that long to see Jaycob get his.

Just love these feet! Love when I get a large family that the feet and shoes can show so much of a family's personality!
This is my very first client and my now third session with them. They are soooo wonderful and I am so thankful for everything Alethea has done for my business. I love to photograph all her kids and watch them grow up. The last two sessions have taken place at her house, this one we went to a local park. I love that I can do fun stuff with them and we just have a wonderful session each time.

They obliged me to do an "Abbey Road" take at the park. I want to try to do these at several of my sessions. I have done a few in the past, but this worked out so well being that there were 6 total people. I am huge Beatles fan so everytime I see a crosswalk this is my first thought :)

Grandma stopped by for a few photos as well.

Ok this is going to be my NEW blog!

so please check in here instead of Daily life or my old photo blog. I am going to combine the two and well i had to create a new blog under a different email address because Brett's blog is taking up too much space with his photos :) Wish I had put Brett's blog its own account, but since its already started, I figured this was the easiest thing to do :)

So this is where I am going to write anything that pertains to ME. Both personal and photo business related. I will post specials I am having, favorite photos from my sessions and anything else I feel like writing about.

With the new change I also hope to post at least once or twice per week with at least something. So stayed tuned and stay with me.

I hope to have a few regular "columns" as well. I use to write a scrapbook article a few years back for an online magazine called 10 tips. I want to do that here the first of each month but have them be photography related, so stay tuned for that :)
